A research-based project on the decline of plane trees in Southern Europe due to disease. Combining scientific observation with artistic narration, it reflects on ecological grief, multispecies vulnerability, and the cultural memory of landscapes.
01. Platanos
Platanos explores the ecological, cultural, and material presence of platanus trees in Southern Europe. The research began in the Plani̱tero region near Kalavryta,
my place of origin, and investigates the slow devastation caused by the fatal metachromatic ulcer. The project combines field-based research, including direct observation, ecological mapping, and data collection on tree health, with desk-based investigation through archival studies, literature review, disease mapping,
and digital modeling.
